1st Gr Paper Weaving: Castles

Students learned how to weave with paper. Then we looked at examples of castles and added architectural details to our castles. Thank you #anotherartteacher for the fun idea!

4th Gr Still Life Charcoal Drawings

Students looked at a still life and created loose charcoal sketches.

5th Gr Still Life Paintings (Becket Washington)

Students at Becket Washington painted from a still life that was set up in the classroom. They mixed colors on a palette. Although they all looked at the same still life, their compositions are completely different.

4th Gr Loom Weaving

Students learned about the history of weaving and what kinds of uses ancient people had for woven fabrics. Students looked at my portfolio of woven fabrics and I explained the job of a textile designer. They looked at ancient fabrics from the Incas in South America and fabrics woven by modern artists such as Sheila Hicks.

                  Students learned what a loom is and how to wind a warp.
