Stay at Home Lesson #24: How to Draw Bubble Letters

Bubble letters are easy to draw. Follow the steps below to create your own design. You can use your name, a positive message, a favorite team, or pet.

                                          Step 1: Write out the word you want.

                                          Step 2: Draw a "bubble" around it.

                                          Step 3: Erase the lines inside the bubble.

                  Step 4: Shade the letters by putting a darker outline around the outside. Press lighter in                        the center of the letter.

                                          Step 5: Color all the letters.

                                          Step 6: Add an interesting background.

Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an artist who took everyday objects that you buy at the grocery store and turned them into art. He was interested in their graphics (the design of the labels) and considered their designs to be art. He recreated the food containers and became famous for taking something ordinary that we look at everyday and seeing it in a new way. Can you see something in your kitchen in a new way?

For this project, I spent some time looking out my windows to find an interesting picture to draw. I liked drawing something that I look at everyday. Observe and draw what you see.

Stay at Home Lesson #20: Draw Harry the Dirty Dog

Harry the Dirty Dog is a classic story with beautiful illustrations. Play the YouTube video to hear the story and look at the illustrations. Then follow the steps below to create Harry and create a background from a part of the story. Have fun!

                  Sketch an oval for Harry's body.                 Make a head.

                  For the ears, legs, and tail make triangular shapes.

                  Add eyes, nose, and mouth.                       I am making Harry dirty, so he has white spots.

                  I finished shading Harry and adding fur.    He is digging up his brush.

                  I added some details of the backyard.        I shaded (darkened) the backyard with pencil.

 I added some more flowers to the backyard.
